I enjoyed your viewpoint on white privilege and I’m trying to be aware that we can’t discount the progress that has been made. But I am white, I’m surrounded by mostly white people and we still have a lot of work to do. I also read the essay on white privilege and it was the one thing that finally clicked for me. I am finally understanding that a lot of progress has been stopped because white people are uncomfortable. And that’s what I run into when talking to friends and family because we were raised to believe we weren’t racist. If someone thinks they are being accused of being racist they get all defensive. I get that it shouldn’t be like this but if the term helps even a few (white) people understand isn’t that a victory?
