So…do you really want to live in a country where only the rich can have children? If we only pay for one child to “punish” the parents, what does that mean for the rest of the children who didn’t have a choice? Are they going to be thrown into worse conditions because someone thought their parents were irresponsible?

What about culture and religion? There are cultures and religions that don’t believe in any form of contraception. Should we punish people based on religion? You are getting into scary government interference if that happens.

Have you ever had a conversation with someone on welfare? I have. In fact I have them all day long. If I’m being honest I have shared some of your opinions in the past. I’m not sure what your background is but as a white, upper-middle class woman I have led a pretty privileged life. It’s really easy for someone from my background to judge people based on how we think we would act. I would encourage you to have a little compassion and not judge people without knowing all the details.
