I read articles on Medium for years without really knowing about Medium. I noticed the name and the fact that I enjoyed them. In May, I decided to become a member and start writing.

I’ve been blogging since I became a widow 4 1/2 years ago. I started on Tumblr then moved to WordPress. I never received any mentoring and rarely read anyone else’s work. Medium offered a new space and the opportunity to connect with other writers.

Since I joined, nearly four months ago, I’ve enjoyed finding other writers to follow. For my introductory article on Reading Rhombus, I would like to share four of my favorite female authors on Medium. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!

Allison Gaines

Part of the reason I joined Medium was to have a place to express my feelings about the current racial unrest. I also wanted to hear the voices of Black authors. Allison is someone who has resonated with me. Perhaps it’s the fact that she is a Psychologist and teacher. I am a Professional Clinical Counselor and have a background in teaching. And, she has read and commented on my articles!

The article I have chosen hits close to home. I have multiple family members, including two nephews, who are law…
